I love to capture the warmth of the moment. I intentionally shoot with a true-to-color style mixed with a touch of warmth that can be felt when viewing the images. These create timeless images that will never go out of style.

Over 9 Years of Experience


It is crazy to think that I have had this business for over 9 years now. It has been such a joy to see how much it has grown over time. I began Twisted Journey with capturing seniors in high school and now it has expanded even more toward capturing weddings.

Hi there! I’m Jacob Davidson, the guy behind Twisted Journey Photography, and I’m so happy you’re here! I truly believe that getting to know your photographer is such an important part of creating photos that feel personal and real, so let me tell you a little about myself.


I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2022 with a degree in Media and Cinema Studies and minors in Critical Film Production and Communications. My studies helped me fall in love with storytelling and capturing those little moments that feel both cinematic and authentic.


My journey with photography started back in middle school when I was snapping artsy pictures on my iPod Touch and sharing them on Instagram. It didn’t take long before I saved up for my first camera and began photographing senior portraits during my sophomore year of high school (fun fact: my clients had to drive me to sessions because I didn’t even have my license yet!). By my senior year, I was shooting weddings and experimenting with video, and it quickly became clear that photography was more than just a hobby for me—it was my passion. Fast forward to today, and I’m so proud to run Twisted Journey full-time, focusing on capturing love stories that are unique, heartfelt, and full of life.


I’ve always had a big love for adventure and travel. I’ve been lucky enough to explore Europe, including studying abroad in Florence, Italy, which was a dream come true. If you’re planning an elopement or wondering if I travel for sessions, my answer is a resounding yes! Let’s make it happen!


When I’m not photographing incredible couples and families, you can find me playing guitar, writing songs, hiking, exploring new places, or spending time with my family, friends, and my two sweet nieces. Connection means everything to me—it’s what inspires my work and why I love capturing people’s stories. Whether it’s your wedding, senior year, or a cozy couples session, I’m here to celebrate and document your love in a way that feels genuine and meaningful.

When i'm not behind the camera I am:

  • Spending time with my family and friends — my biggest supporters.
  • Traveling to the next state or country I have yet to unlock
  • Lifting weights and going on walks with my aunt
  • Listening to the new music releases of the week
  • Hunting down my next favorite coffee shop to edit in — within a 50-mile radius.
  • Editing while sipping on a homemade latte (yes, I make homemade syrups) and a podcast playing in the background
  • Cooking something new and plating it like I am a culinary chef
  • Watching films that fuel my creativity with rich, cinematic visuals.


MY HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

Traveling has been the best way for me to get out of my comfort zone, experience new things, and meet many people along the way. I love going to new places and on new adventures. I have been to Europe a few times and studied abroad in Florence, Italy in 2020. The picture on your right is a picture I took in Switzerland. I also have a new obsession with seeing all 50 states and have 5 more to go. I am hoping to visit all 50 by the end of 2025 (When I am 25). My favorite state (so far) you ask? Hawaii.

2009

I was nine years old and fell in love with taking pictures on my ipod touch to post to instagram. I started taking pictures of everything i saw such as flowers, architecture, friends, etc.

2011

My grandma gave me her old trusty Canon Rebel XT. The very first ever canon rebel series (I think they are on Canon Rebel T7i now). I did not know what i was doing but i fell in love with capturing everything.

2013

I took a local photography course. I sacrificed my wednesday nights to learn how to shoot in manual and after that i never looked back. I started capturing pictures of my sister and continued taking self portraits.

2015

I officially started my business to try and get senior sessions. I got two on my first year and i remember my clients having to pick me up and drive me to my photoshoots.

2018

The year i graduated high school. I had all of my friends as clients and ended up having over 20 seniors for my senior year of high school.

2020

I studied abroad in italy and became more in love with filmmaking. I learned how to refine manual and my craft more as I expanded into landscape photography. This was also the year I transitioned into becoming a wedding photographer. I was quickly booking weddings consistently. I still had my senior sessions, but quickly fell in love with capturing love.

2022

The year I went FULL TIME!! I graduated college with a major in media and cinema studies and two minors in communications and Critical film making. I was able to hone my filmmaking craft more which helped improve my wedding films.

Today

A continued love for capturing weddings and couples. Transitioning into a travelling wedding photographer. A gratefulness of being able to travel more with my job and being established in two locations -- Hawaii and Illinois/Midwest.

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is bring along my handheld digital camera. There’s something so satisfying about capturing moments as they happen—whether it’s the intricate details of historic architecture, breathtaking landscapes, or the candid laughter of friends. For me, photography is about documenting life in its purest form and preserving the stories behind those moments.


This past July, I had the chance to travel to Europe, and it was an unforgettable experience. From wandering cobblestone streets to catching sunsets that felt like something out of a dream, every moment begged to be captured. My camera was always in hand, snapping quick, unedited shots that reflect the energy and beauty of those moments.


The photos I’m sharing here are just a small glimpse into that trip. They’re not about perfection but about preserving the feeling of being there and soaking it all in.
