Photographing Maddy and Alec at Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colorado, was a dream. This location has everything a photographer could hope for: towering Flatirons, lush green meadows, and a sky that always seems to put on a show. Add in a summer evening with a mix of sunshine, a little rain, a stunning sunset, and even a rainbow, and it’s safe to say this shoot had a bit of everything.
We started the session with the iconic Flatirons in the background. Maddy and Alec were naturals—completely at ease, laughing together, and moving through the session with an effortless kind of energy. They share a love of the outdoors, so Chautauqua was a meaningful choice for them, as it’s a place they’ve hiked and explored together since moving to Colorado.
One of the highlights of the session was how dynamic the evening turned out to be. The weather shifted from bright, warm sunshine to soft drizzles of rain, and then, as if on cue, a rainbow stretched across the sky. Instead of worrying about the changing conditions, Maddy and Alec rolled with it, embracing the moment and making the photos even more special. Their easygoing nature made the entire experience feel fun and relaxed—exactly how it should be.
We wrapped up the session just as the sun dipped behind the mountains, casting everything in a golden glow. The light, the scenery, and the couple’s connection all came together to create images that felt timeless and unique.
Chautauqua Park truly is one of the best spots for an engagement session. Whether it’s the dramatic mountain views or the peaceful trails, it’s a place that invites you to create something memorable. Maddy and Alec’s shoot was a perfect example of how Colorado’s natural beauty—and a little spontaneity—can make a session unforgettable.
If you’re looking for a place to capture your story, Chautauqua is it. And if you’re up for a little adventure, I’d love to help you create photos as special as this session.
